Aaron Weismann, the chief data safety officer of Radnor Township, Penn.-based Principal Line Well being, is looking to launch Guardians of the Grid, a ransomware board recreation that simulates a cyberattack.
Mr. Weismann created a Kickstarter marketing campaign to fundraise for the board recreation; if the marketing campaign reaches a stretch purpose, then it is going to embody a healthcare industry-specific module. The sport is a contest between a crimson staff of hackers and a blue staff of defenders.
Every board recreation consists of 416 taking part in playing cards with an evidence of a cybersecurity assault or protection tactic.
If the sport reaches its first stretch purpose of $50,000 raised, it is going to embody booster packs that may permit the crimson staff to play as real-life cybercriminal gangs akin to LockBit and BlackCat. The Kickstarter marketing campaign is seeking to elevate $20,000.
“I think tabletop exercises are effective at training staff how to respond to real-life cyberattacks. They take the edge off one of the most catastrophic events that can happen to an organization,” Mr. Weismann told Becker’s in October 2022. “When a ransomware attack hits, people can grab their incident response workbook and say, ‘I know what to do.’ Along those lines, they provide really great opportunities for information security awareness. You can easily tie phishing, web browsing, portable media, insider threat and other potentially risky organizational activities.”
